From Insights to Action: Research That Strengthens Outcomes.

Trusted Research.
Lasting Impact.
Local Solutions.

Our Research Built the Foundation. Communities Lead the Future.

For nearly 20 years, Savannas Forever has advanced research and evaluation while building new, community-led solutions for ecosystem restoration, women’s empowerment and rural livelihoods.

Our long-term fieldwork revealed that restoring degraded rangelands and strengthening rural livelihoods are deeply interconnected. Communities needed not just data, but tools and enterprises they could lead themselves.

In 2022, we launched the Native Seed Initiative to bridge this gap — empowering local women and youth to produce native grass seeds, restore grazing land, strengthen biodiversity, and build sustainable rural economies.

Research & Evaluation

Since 2006, we have conducted independent, field-based research and evaluations for NGOs, international development agencies, and donors across Tanzania and Kenya.

Our services include:

  • Baseline and endline studies

  • Monitoring and evaluation systems

  • Participatory research and surveys

  • Data analysis and reporting for policy and program design

Native Seed Initiative

Our Native Seed Initiative builds a locally led supply of native plant seeds to restore degraded rangelands and pastures. We work with village seed champions to identify, harvest, and multiply native grasses and legumes that support biodiversity, forage quality, and climate resilience.

Program focus areas:

  • Community seed collection and propagation

  • Training and extension support

  • Seed marketing and distribution partnerships

  • Native plant and ecosystem restoration research
